First: stay safe
- Treat any downed wire as live. Stay at least 30 feet away, keep kids and pets back, and call 911 and your utility.
- Don't stand under hanging limbs. A broken branch caught in the canopy can drop without warning.
- If a tree hit the house, get everyone out of the rooms it damaged and check for gas smells or water leaks.
Then: document everything
Before anything gets moved, take photos and video of the tree, the damage and where it fell from. If the tree hit a covered structure like your house or garage, many homeowners policies help pay for removal. Check your policy and call your insurer, and keep every receipt.
Then: call us
Call (315) 687-8301. Tell us what came down, what it's on, and whether any wires are involved. We'll get the tree off the structure, make the rest of the tree safe, and clean up.
Storm work near damaged structures takes careful rigging, because the weight of the tree is often holding things in place. This is not a job for a homeowner with a chainsaw.
Trees in the road
If a tree from the Town right-of-way is down or damaged, report it to the Town at 315-656-3090. In the Village of Fayetteville, call the Village office at 315-637-9864.
Prevent the next one
Most storm damage comes from trees that were already weak: dead ash, cracked trunks and long limbs over the roof. Trimming and taking out hazard trees ahead of the winter is cheaper than an emergency call.
