Street trees vs. your trees
Town of Manlius (outside the villages)
- The Town right-of-way runs roughly 25–30 feet from the center of the road, depending on the road.
- To report a dead or dying tree in the right-of-way, or one blocking the view of traffic, call the Town at 315-656-3090. The Town inspects it and decides what to do.
- The Town Tree Commission plants shade trees in the right-of-way on request in some years. Contact treecommission@townofmanlius.org.
Village of Fayetteville
- Street trees are in the village right-of-way, even if they feel like part of your yard.
- Residents are not allowed to remove, transplant, prune or top street trees. Trained Fayetteville Tree Commission members handle pruning.
- Fayetteville has been a Tree City USA since 2000. Village office: 315-637-9864.
Villages of Manlius and Minoa
The villages run their own programs. Contact your village DPW about street trees. Village of Manlius DPW: 315-682-7634.
Brush pickup
Town of Manlius brush district
- For town residents outside the villages who are in the brush district. The fee shows up on the January tax bill.
- Pickup every other week from April through December, with no service in February or March.
- Branches up to 5 feet long and 3 inches in diameter. Bundles up to 50 pounds, tied with twine. No plastic bags.
- No stumps, dirt, rocks or sod. Bigger limbs and removed trees can be collected by the hauler for a fee.
Highway Department drop-off
- Corner of Clemmons Road and Route 290. Mondays, 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., residents only.
- Contractors and landscapers aren't allowed to drop off.
- OCRRA's Jamesville and Amboy yard waste sites also take brush on Saturdays during the season, for a small fee.
Village of Manlius
- Brush up to 6 feet long and 6 inches in diameter, stacked at the edge of the lawn with the cut ends facing the road and kept separate from leaves.
- Contractors must remove their own debris. Call the DPW for large piles.
Villages of Fayetteville and Minoa
Each village runs its own pickup. Check with your village office for the schedule.
What this means when you hire a tree service
A full tree, or even a big limb, is far more than the curbside program takes, and contractor debris isn't accepted at the drop-off. Make sure your estimate includes chipping and haul-away. Call (315) 687-8301 for a free estimate that does.
